Yesterday marked the exciting start of the DBA Immersion Week at the Swiss School of Business and Management Geneva. This pivotal event brings together our DBA students, who are embarking on a transformative academic journey designed to sharpen their research skills, expand their knowledge, and foster meaningful connections within the academic community.
Kicking Off the Doctoral Journey
The Immersion Week began with an insightful introduction to the doctoral journey led by two of our esteemed faculty members, dean Dr. Amira Simcox and Dr. Iva Buljubasic. Their session was an invaluable opportunity for the DBA students to familiarize themselves with the rigors and expectations of the doctoral program. Dr. Simcox and Dr. Buljubasic shared their expertise on navigating the complexities of doctoral research, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, critical thinking, and intellectual curiosity.
Workshop on Crafting Research Questions and Hypothesis Development
Following the introductory session, the DBA students participated in a highly interactive workshop on “Crafting Research Questions and Hypothesis Development” conducted by Dr. Francesco Derchi. This workshop was designed to equip students with the skills needed to formulate precise and impactful research questions—an essential first step in any research endeavor.
Group Mentoring and Pitching Sessions
In the afternoon, the focus shifted towards collaborative learning with group mentoring and pitching sessions. These sessions provided an opportunity for students to work closely with their peers and mentors, exchanging ideas and receiving constructive feedback on their research proposals.
These activities are crucial in fostering a sense of community among the DBA candidates, encouraging them to collaborate, network, and support each other throughout their doctoral journey.
Looking Ahead
As the DBA Immersion Week progresses, students can look forward to a series of workshops, lectures, and collaborative sessions designed to deepen their understanding of advanced research methods, academic writing, and the practical application of their studies. This week is not only an academic initiation but also a celebration of the intellectual adventure that each student is about to embark on.
At SSBM Geneva, we are committed to providing our DBA students with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to succeed in their doctoral journey. The start of this Immersion Week is just the beginning of what promises to be a challenging, rewarding, and transformative experience.
We wish all our DBA students the best of luck as they dive into their research and take the first steps toward making significant contributions to the world of business and management.
