At the Swiss School of Business and Management Geneva, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Our commitment extends beyond classrooms and campuses, reaching communities where access to education is a challenge. This belief recently took our Chief Operating Officer, Dino Kolak, MSc, to Zanzibar, where he visited Kidoti Primary School.
During his visit, Dino had the opportunity to meet with students and teachers, witnessing firsthand the resilience and enthusiasm of young learners despite their limited resources. His experience was a moving testament to the impact of even the smallest acts of kindness. Below, he shares his reflections on this unforgettable journey:
Visiting Kidoti Primary School in Zanzibar on behalf of SSBM and myself was a truly humbling experience. We had the opportunity to share some gifts with the children and the dedicated teaching staff, but in return, we received something far greater—smiles, warmth, and a reminder of what true happiness looks like.
Despite having so little, the children radiate pure joy. Their laughter fills the classrooms, their curiosity is endless, and their enthusiasm for learning is inspiring. Kidoti Primary is home to over 1,700 students, a staggering number that reflects the immense demand for education in Zanzibar.
During our visit, we also met with the school administration and presented them with essential gifts that will help them in their mission to transfer knowledge to their students.
When we asked the children what they wanted to be when they grow up, the majority said they dream of becoming tour guides or working in tourism. It’s a reflection of how deeply tourism shapes life on Zanzibar and how education plays a crucial role in helping these children build a better future.
This visit was a beautiful reminder that happiness isn’t measured by material wealth but by the richness of human connection and the pursuit of knowledge.
At SSBM Geneva, we are honored to support initiatives that promote education and opportunity. Dino’s visit to Kidoti Primary School highlights the importance of giving back and recognizing the role education plays in shaping a brighter future for communities around the world.
This experience has reinforced our belief that small gestures can create meaningful change, and we look forward to finding more ways to make a positive impact.
