Students from the MBA in International Sports Law program at the Swiss School of Business and Management Geneva had the unique opportunity to visit the UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland—the heart of European football. This exclusive visit provided invaluable insights into the legal, regulatory, and strategic aspects of one of the world’s most influential sports organizations.

The day was packed with engaging presentations and discussions led by key figures in UEFA’s legal and management departments:

  • Understanding UEFA’s Structures and Activities – Kevin Yalale-Matufueni, UEFA Academy Promotion and Management Assistant, provided an in-depth overview of UEFA’s organizational framework, its role in European football, and the various programs under its academy.
  • Legal and Integrity Affairs – A thought-provoking session was led by Angelo Rigopoulos, Managing Director of Integrity & Regulatory; William McAuliffe, Head of Disciplinary; and Michaela Clicque, Head of Statutory and Regulatory. The discussion explored the critical legal frameworks that ensure the integrity of European football, highlighting key regulatory and disciplinary measures.
  • UEFA and the European Union – Teodora Pletosu, N.A. Strategic Development Specialist, elaborated on UEFA’s relationship with the EU, shedding light on how European policies impact football governance and regulation.
